(Lav. angustifolia cv. ) Hgt. 24-30”
Originally grown from seed, French Fields was a selection brought back from the Mediterranean by Oregon lavender grower, Andy Van Hevelingen. It is rumored that this cultivar closely resembles the lavender growing wild in the higher elevations of the French countryside, hence the name French Fields. French Fields is a tight, compact bush that dons striking bright green foliage. When in bloom, the plant becomes covered in thick confetti of breathtaking flowers. The bloom color of French Fields is a light blue-purple that looks great both dried and freshly cut. French Fields is one of the earliest lavenders to bloom; it typically begins its flowering in the early spring. Both this and the fact that it is a continuous bloomer make French Fields an excellent choice for gardeners looking to harvest frequent fresh bunches. The plant size itself ranges from a small twenty-four inches to a moderate thirty inches high when fully grown. The stem length of the plant is about seven to ten inches high. Several French Fields plants can make a stunning focal point when clustered together in the garden, or they can become bright accents when scattered throughout a flower bed. French Fields thrives best in zones 5 through 9.
Excellent landscape plant. Zone 5-10
